CBD & PTSD
PTSD or Post- Traumatic Stress Disorder is described as a psychiatric disorder that can happen if you have either witnessed or experienced a ‘traumatic’ event such as rape, a natural disaster, terrorism, death or a violent assault. Those who work as soldiers, police officers, firemen or ambulance operatives are more likely to witness or experience such an event.
CBD oil may help individuals with PTSD in a unique manner by directly targeting stress, anxiety, depression and many of the other mental symptoms associated with PTSD. By lessening the mental symptoms, the physical symptoms also subside, since the two are deeply interconnected.
Research has shown that the Endocannabinoid System in humans plays a crucial role in post-traumatic stress disorder. It has also been found that persons suffering from PTSD have much higher levels of CB1 receptors than those with healthy controls therefore, individuals who use CBD oil, may have a reduction of post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms.
CBD SUGGESTED USE
Mayo Clinic suggests CBD dosages on scientific research, publications, traditional use or expert opinion. It has suggested dosages upward of 25mg CBD daily sublingually. Others have suggested dosing starting at 40 mg to 160 mg of CBD daily sublingually.
If you are just starting out with CBD oil, then remember to start small. It’s important to know how your body reacts to CBD. Increase the dosage gradually and if you feel that the CBD oil isn’t affecting you in a positive way then consult with a medical professional.
The effects of CBD oil are not instant and varies from person to person. CBD may take some time to work, so it is important to find the right dosage.
